Begin the journey at the Cradle of Humankind where fossils of some of the earliest known life forms on earth have been discovered. Dinosaur fossils dating back over 200 million years have emerged in this heritage site including the famous fossils “Mrs Ples” and “Little Foot”. You will also be inspired by the oldest rock art ignited by humankind’s imagination and creativity.

Collect: Between 8:00 & 8:30am

Sterkfontein Caves

This world-heritage site is the home to the largest ancestral human remains ever recorded and has the most important discoveries concerning evolution. Explore the ancient limestone formations of the caves where the oldest human fossil discoveries are still a wonder.

Maropeng Centre

Take in the scenic views while driving through the Cradle enroute to the Maropeng exhibition centre. This thrilling and exciting journey allows an opportunity to learn about the origins of humankind, fossils and you get to view stone tools up to 1 million years old. This centre is highly interactive with fascinating exhibitions that allow you to learn about our ancestral origins.

Important: Please wear comfortable shoes when visiting the Caves Sterkfontein Caves tour is for the physically healthy people. There are a number of tight spots and pathways to negotiate, the tour is not recommended for people who are claustrophobic. It is also not recommended for people who have acute asthma and chest problems
